South Park Returns on April 27th – Time to Get Caught up Before Season 15 Begins-tvso

The loveable foursome of 4th graders will be back to grace our comedic hearts at the end of April with the announcement by South Park Studios that they will be airing the first and highly anticipated episode of South Park Season 15 on Wednesday, April 27th, 2011. For fans of the off-color comedy that is centered upon four little boys who live in the small town of South Park, Colorado, it leaves many questions to be pondered. Who will the show make fun of this year? What celebs will get roasted? What current events will be lambasted?

For a hit animated show that knows no comedic boundaries, the sky is literally the limit.

The show’s founders, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, have been longtime protagonists for taking pop shots at popular culture and current events. For example, in Season 14, the first episode, “Sexual Healing,” was focused on jabbing at Tiger Woods for his marital problems, which fanned the flames for a nationwide “Sex Addict” crisis in the episode that ultimately had to be tackled by the CDC and the sitting US President – who later blamed it on a fake alien that was killed at the end of the episode, ending the “Sex Addict Plague.”

The third episode, “Medicinal Fried Chicken,” made fun of medical marijuana dispensaries when a disgruntled Randy found out that he needed to be dying to legally use medical cannabis, and the boys realized that their beloved KFC was torn down to make room for a new dispensary in town.

Episodes 200 and 201 respectively bashed BP for its environmental disaster, namely focusing on the CEO who was later fired. The creative duo didn’t stop there, however. NASCAR was also fodder and was torn apart by Parker and Stone in “Poor and Stupid,” where Eric Cartman fulfilled his dream of becoming a NASCAR driver by getting poorer and stupider.

Such is the nomenclature of a show that has become a cult classic on its network, Comedy Central, where its popularity could easily be compared to Fox’s Family Guy.

Two other episodes from season 14 rang true to the pop culture destruction method that is Parker and Stone’s pastime with the show. Episode 1409, “It’s a Jersey Thing,” wreaked comedic havoc on the reality TV show, “Jersey Shore.” And episode 1414, “Crème Fraiche” made fun of every reality TV cooking show that you have ever watched.

With only a few weeks to go until Season 15 officially begins, there is still plenty of time to catch up on the episodes you may have missed from Season 14. But you don’t have to wait for those episodes to be replayed on TV just to see them again, and you won’t be required to buy the season box set, either. Rather, at http://www.southparkstudios.com/ you can watch full episodes of all prior seasons online.
